Polyphonic Catastrophe - Gamer Misery

Feb. 23rd, 2009 12:27 am Gamer Misery

My XBox controller broke on Friday and my console broke today.  I am one sad individual.

What saddens me more is that I'm honestly considering going out and buying a brand new one tomorrow...

I knew this was going to happen. Stupid console HAD to wait until the bet was over to finally prove me right. Stupid box.

EDIT: Microsoft Customer Support is populated by morons!  Even after I gave them all of my information, they somehow managed to file/register my console under my brother's name!  How the hell do they pull that act of idiocy off!?

Current Mood: melancholy

It happens to all of us, I'm on my third 360 console now, though I never had to actually pay for the second or third.

If it's just RROD you could send it to Microsoft and get it fixed.

Oh, believe me. Those wheels are already in motion. The box will probably be enroute to me tomorrow. Basically, as my brother put it, I'm just in the position to make an "Executive Crackhead Decision." Thankfully, I'm not devoid of any sort of gaming entertainment but with such things as Star Ocean dropping this week and being in the middle of a few titles, its gonna suck having to wait on MS to get the job done.

How long did the process take for you? I think its about 3 weeks to a month, right?

I got my new 360 in about 2 weeks, or at least I think it was, I just remember I got it sooner than I thought I would, they're pretty good with the repairs and such. I was in school at the time and I got Neverwinter Nights 2 for PC to keep myself occupado during the transition. :P

Star Ocean?

Yea, because Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant and Project Sylpheed were so good. :-\

You totally skipped on Fable 2 which got raves.

But you'd buy a second 360 in order not to miss Star Ocean on day one. :-\

Well, the last thing I need is another Dave Taylor debacle so I'll respond on this one.

1) I own 2 of the 3 titles that you mentioned and I wasn't exactly excited for any of them. Infinite Undiscovery was purchased for $18 and The Last Remnant for $30.

2) Of those two, only one of them was done by Tri-Ace (the company that I am interested in, not Square-Enix). And with that game, the thing that was bad was the plot, not the combat (which Tri-Ace always does well).

3) I skipped Fable 2 for multiple reasons, mainly Christmas flood of titles and the fact that I still have a bad taste in my mouth from Fable 1.

And lastly, 4) I mentioned Star Ocean, but I'd mainly consider getting a 360 because I'll miss the games I have been playing on top of the loss of partychat. If anything, Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3 would be most welcome diversions for RPGs.

5) I like listing things using numbers. ^_^

Even with Star Ocean coming out this week, you do not need to spend the money on another 360. Just let the repair process happen. You have more than enough games on every other system known to man to tide you over for two weeks you freak.

Besides, maybe now you'll actually play Uncharted. ;P

If I get prepare myself to run through that gauntlet of gunmen then I just might. I have no idea why they'd take a great exploration style game and mar it down with a flood of gun battles.

Yea, if you bought another console just because your system red ringed, I would fly to Delaware, beat your ass, and then make you pay for my ticket.

What reason could there be to spend $300 on a new system when you can get a perfectly good one back? You can survive a week or two of your life. Hell, you've survived 26 years or so without one to this point.

Here's an evil thing you can do.

Buy one at walmart (pref elite).
Put your broken one in the box.
Return it.
Bam, new xbox 360 (you might have to swap the barcodes on the 360 itself).

I think you'd lose some things though but hey at least u get another x360 right away. lol
